Tucked away among the hilltop farms of southwestern N.H., just east of Walpole, this beautiful circa 1780 hip-roof Colonial with attached cape and slate-roofed barn has been lovingly and carefully restored to absolute perfection. The 16-room, 4,000 square-foot homestead stands proudly among twenty-five pristine acres of meadows, ponds, woodland, streams and stone walls. All original historic features have been preserved, including gunstock corners, beaded paneling, wide pine floors, hand-blown glass in 9/6 and 12/12 casements, lime-plaster walls, thumb-latches and hinges, raised-panel wainscoting, five restored fireplaces, and a beehive oven in the large keeping room. Post-and-beam construction, eight-foot plaster ceilings, spacious and sunlit rooms, the Chandler House reflects the sturdy character of its craftsmen and displays the beautiful proportions of the classic 18th-century style.
